In the mountains and forests of the Northwest, more than 2,000 people in Than Uyen district (Lai Chau province) held hands in a flower dance to celebrate Independence Day.
On the evening of September 1, Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee organized the 2024 Independence Day festival with the theme "Sparkling colors of Than Uyen".
This is the first time the Independence Day Festival has been held on a provincial scale.
At the ceremony, the Council of the Vietnam Record Organization announced and awarded the Local Record for organizing the Independence Day associated with the Cultural and Sports Festival of ethnic groups regularly and continuously for many years to Than Uyen district.
Mr. Ha Trong Hai, Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee, said that over the past decades, the Independence Day Festival has become a major festival for the people of Than Uyen district in particular and the people of all ethnic groups in Lai Chau province in general.
Mr. Hai affirmed that from the success of the Independence Day Festival, Lai Chau province will focus on investing, building and developing Than Uyen district to become a "safe, friendly, attractive and impressive" destination in the hearts of tourists and friends from near and far.
In recent days, tens of thousands of local ethnic people and tourists have come to Than Uyen district to join in the fun activities.
Especially on the evening of September 1, many people came to the district stadium to watch the unique xoè dance performance.
