Ngoc Chien commune has more than 2,260 hectares of hawthorn trees, concentrated in Dong Xuong, Phay, Luot, and Nam Nghiep villages...

The Nam Nghiep highland village alone, located at an average altitude of 2,200 meters above sea level, has the largest hawthorn area with more than 1,600 hectares of trees. Of these, about 800 hectares are ancient trees with an age of 300 - 500 years.

On average, the diameter of the hawthorn tree trunk in Nam Nghiep is from 60 - 80 cm, there are many ancient trees with trunks large enough for two people to hug.

The hawthorn tree has been associated with the Mong ethnic people in Nam Nghiep village for many generations. It is a tree that helps eliminate hunger and reduce poverty, and greens barren land and hills. During the hawthorn fruit season from September to October every year, Nam Nghiep people harvest over 3,000 tons of fresh fruit.
