Two-year-old artist whose painting sells for $7,000

In an interview with The Times on May 30, Lisa said the family discovered Schwarz's talent during a trip to Italy in September 2023. "The hotel we stayed at had an art gallery, and no one could take my son away from it. When we built a studio for him, Laurent always spent time there," said the mother of "little Picasso".

The artist's parents did not interfere with their son's creative work, allowing him to freely paint his favorite subjects. "Sometimes he didn't want to paint, let alone go to the studio for three or four weeks. Suddenly, at some point, Laurent found inspiration and said to me, 'Mom, paint,'" she added. Laurent Schwarz likes bright colors, has specific ideas when mixing colors, and does not use dark colors because he thinks they are boring.

Lisa decided to open an Instagram account to showcase her son’s paintings and was surprised when the account reached more than 30,000 followers. She then created the website Laurents Art to sell the works, quickly receiving many orders from the art community in the UK and the Bahamas. Laurent’s paintings attracted attention at ArtMuc - the largest art fair in Munich (Germany) in April.

Not all of the young artist’s paintings are for sale, however. The family said they once turned down an offer from an American bidder to buy his first work, The Fingers, for $148,000. “That painting is so close to us that it’s hard for anyone else to own it,” she said.

According to The Times,Laurent Schwarz's family and a New York gallery will collaborate to organize an exhibition of the young artist's paintings in Neubeuern, his home state of Bavaria, in August. The proceeds will be transferred to a bank account, and Laurent will receive the entire amount when he turns 18.
