Korean artist Jakka Jang - President of the 21C International Cultural and Art Exchange Association, President of the International Board of the Korean Arts Association, has just held a solo painting exhibition called 'For You Only' at the Exhibition House 29 Hang Bai (Hanoi).
Artist Jakka Jang is known for his profound vision of using art as a tool to connect cultures around the world. He has held nearly 60 solo exhibitions and participated in about 800 group exhibitions globally, from Beijing, Shanghai, Tokyo, Seoul to New York, and many other places. He has published many impressive artworks, from "Korean Figurative Painting" (2010), "For You" (2014), "Flower Artist" (2015) to "Body in Motion" (2017).
Artist Jakka Jang has been honored with many prestigious awards such as: Korea Regional Contribution Award (2012), Writer Award (2014), Korea Creative Culture and Arts Award (2015), Grand Prize (2016), Korea Sharing Award (2018), Artist of the Year Award 2022.
Sharing at his first exhibition in Vietnam, artist Jakka Jang said that for him, painting is not only a work of art but also a bridge between different cultures. By promoting artistic exchange, he brings the works of artists from different countries closer together, creating a forum for cultural exchange and integration.
At the solo exhibition “For You Only” in Hanoi, artist Jakka Jang introduces a collection of 70 oil paintings that have never been published in previous exhibitions.
Accordingly, besides the realistic paintings of landscapes and people, Jakka Jang's works often feature newspaper pages and articles from all over the world.
Vice President of the Vietnam Fine Arts Association and art critic Mai Thi Ngoc Oanh shared: "The works about landscapes and people in the realistic style are displayed with many attractive colors. In particular, the works attract the eye with highlights of light and space."
For artist Jakka Jang, Vietnam is where he wants to live and find inspiration for his artistic career. He aims to develop and connect the cultures of Vietnam and Korea and bring Vietnamese art to the global stage, helping Vietnamese artists have the opportunity to be widely recognized and respected in the world art community.
At the exhibition, the organizers will auction some of Jakka Jang's works to raise funds for the charity "Nurturing the Future" for Vietnamese children in especially difficult circumstances.
