Hezbollah forces have said they will focus on attacking the Israeli army and its centers and barracks.
In a statement on al-manar TV on October 15, Hezbollah deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem said that since Israel had attacked all of Lebanon, the armed movement had the right to attack any location in Israel from its defensive position.
According to Mr. Qassem, from September 17 (the time of the explosions of communication equipment in Lebanon) until now, Hezbollah is no longer in the support phase (of Hamas) but is in a new phase, which is the phase of "confronting Israel's aggression and Israel's war against Lebanon".
In this new phase, Mr. Qassem declared that Hezbollah will focus on attacking the Israeli army and its centers and barracks.
Along with Mr. Qassem's statement, on the afternoon of October 15, Hezbollah members attacked the Israeli city of Safed with a series of missiles.
This morning, October 16, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said about 50 rockets were fired from Lebanon in last night's attack targeting the city of Safed.
No casualties or damage were reported in the attack.
“Several rockets were intercepted and the falling projectiles were located in the area,” the IDF statement said.
Hezbollah also confirmed a second attack on Marbad al-Zaoura in the Golan Heights.
Also on October 15, according to Lebanese health officials, the Israeli army expanded its bombing campaign in Lebanon, killing at least 22 people in an airstrike in the north, targeting a house where evacuees were seeking shelter from Israeli airstrikes in the south.
Lebanese military sources revealed that Israeli warplanes and drones carried out a total of 17 airstrikes on towns and villages in southern Lebanon and 11 airstrikes on eastern Lebanon on the afternoon of October 15.
Israel says the operation in Lebanon aims to secure the return of tens of thousands of residents displaced from their homes in the north of the country by Hezbollah attacks.
