“Hundreds of rockets and dozens of drones (launched every day)... I want to make sure that our capabilities remain,” Qassem said.

At the same time, Hezbollah representatives confirmed that the group's senior leadership is still directing the fight against Israel and that the commanders killed by Israel have been replaced by new ones. Currently, all positions in Hezbollah have been filled and the force will appoint a new leader to replace leader Hassan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike on September 27.

Mr. Qassem also said Hezbollah supported efforts by Lebanese Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri to secure a ceasefire but did not provide further details on any conditions the group requested.

Also on October 8, Hezbollah announced that it had launched "a series of rockets at the Glilot base of Israel's military intelligence unit 8200 in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.

For its part, the Israeli military announced that it detected five rockets launched into its territory from Lebanon on the evening of October 7, and that its air defense system had been activated.
