According to an airline representative, during this holiday, airfares will increase because travel demand is high but the number of flights is low.

Nearly a month before the National Day holiday on September 2nd, up to this point, airfares to many tourist destinations of airlines are twice as expensive as just 1-2 days before.

According to a survey on airline ticket sales sites, the Hanoi-Phu Quoc route, if you take Vietnam Airlines on September 1, will cost between 2.7 and more than 3 million VND/way (including taxes and fees). Meanwhile, if you take the flight earlier on August 30, the ticket price will only be between 1.1 and 1.5 million VND/way.

With Bamboo Airways, the route from Hanoi to Phu Quoc has only 5 flights per day, but 2 flights in the afternoon are sold out, so the number of tickets left is very limited and the price is quite high, fluctuating over 3 million VND/ticket.

Vietnam Airlines round-trip tickets for the Ho Chi Minh City-Da Nang route departing on September 1-2 and returning on September 5 range from 3.2-4.1 million VND, while Vietjet's prices range from 2.8-4.2 million VND; while round-trip tickets on weekdays are only from 2.1-2.8 million VND, including taxes and fees.

For other flights from Hanoi to tourist destinations such as Da Lat, Hue, Nha Trang, Da Nang... during the upcoming National Day, the lowest airfare is also from 1.5-2 million VND/way or more (depending on the flight), this price is also double that of normal days.

Similar to flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Hue, Da Nang, Nha Trang..., airfares during the upcoming National Day holiday on September 2nd will also cost from 1.1 million VND/way or more, while on normal days they are only about 700,000 VND/way.

On routes such as Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City or Ho Chi Minh City-Quy Nhon, airfares are also pushed up to 1.5-1.7 million VND/way or more.

According to an airline representative, during this holiday, airfares have increased due to increased passenger demand but fewer flights. Meanwhile, airlines are still waiting for the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam to grant permission for additional flights based on the booking rates that airlines report to the authority.

“When the number of flights increases, the airline will increase the frequency of flights to tourist destinations during this holiday. From there, passengers will have more opportunities to choose to buy airfares from low to high,” said a representative of this airline.
