South Korea and the United States conduct joint air force exercises

Participating in the Buddy Squadron exercise are South Korean FA-50 fighter jets, KA-1 light attack aircraft as well as US A-10 attack aircraft.

South Korean and US Air Forces have begun a four-day Buddy Squadron exercise.

According to Yonhap news agency, in an effort to enhance the capacity to carry out joint operations, on January 21, the South Korean and US Air Forces began the 4-day Buddy Squadron exercise.

The exercise took place at an air base in Wonju, 87 km southeast of the capital Seoul.

Participating in the exercise were South Korean FA-50 fighter jets, KA-1 light attack aircraft as well as US A-10 attack aircraft.

The exercise aims to enhance the team spirit of the two allies, including training on safety and security issues; training in the use of air force to support ground operations as well as patrol activities.

Buddy Squadron will be the last exercise involving the A-10. The US Air Force will stop using the aircraft in South Korea this year as part of a military modernization plan.
