In line with the increase in world gold prices, on the morning of November 15, domestic gold prices were adjusted up slightly by gold and silver trading companies.
Specifically, at 8:50 a.m., in Hanoi market, DOJI Gold and Gemstone Group listed SJC gold price at 69.55 - 70.4 million VND/tael (buy - sell), keeping the same price in both buying and selling directions compared to the closing price yesterday.
Saigon Jewelry Company listed the price of SJC gold at 69.6 - 70.42 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 50,000 VND/tael in both buying and selling compared to yesterday's closing price.
Phu Quy Gold and Gemstone Group listed the price of SJC gold at 69.7 - 70.7 million VND/tael (buy - sell), an increase of 200,000 VND/tael for buying and an increase of 300,000 VND/tael for selling compared to yesterday's closing price.
Previously, the world gold futures price on the COMEX floor of the New York market (USA) increased in the session on November 14 when the USD weakened. Specifically, the gold price for December 2023 delivery increased by 16.30 USD (0.84%) to close at 1,966.50 USD/ounce.
Gold prices were supported by lower-than-expected US inflation data. The US Department of Labor just announced that the US consumer price index (CPI) was unchanged in October 2023 on a seasonally adjusted basis, after increasing 0.4% in September 2023. Over the past 12 months, the index increased 3.2% in October 2023 after increasing 3.7% in September 2023, the lowest increase in two years.
The significantly lower-than-expected CPI reading has supported the precious metal, with gold likely to rise to $2,100 an ounce in the next six months, said Daniel Ghali, an expert at TD Securities.
Investors will also be watching the US producer price index due on Wednesday (November 15).
