Measles vaccination rates have continued to decline, disease surveillance is poor, and response plans have been delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to the WHO and the US CDC.


According to the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), persistently low measles vaccination rates, poor disease surveillance, and delayed response plans due to the COVID-19 pandemic, along with ongoing outbreaks in more than 20 countries, have made measles an "imminent threat" in all regions of the world.
