On the afternoon of June 2, nearly 21,000 candidates in Hai Duong completed the final exam (non-specialized) - math in the 10th grade entrance exam for public high schools in the 2024-2025 school year.
According to the Hai Duong Newspaper reporters at some examination sites in Kim Thanh, Gia Loc and Chi Linh districts, most candidates were excited to have completed the difficult exam. Many students said that the math questions were not tricky but more difficult than last year, with clear differentiation. Many students regretted not finishing the questions.
Leaving the exam room with a bright smile, Nguyen Van Linh Phong, Le Thanh Nghi Secondary School (Gia Loc) said that the math problems had been thoroughly reviewed by his teachers so he was not surprised. There were no tricky questions, but Phong still found the test difficult, especially part b of questions 5 and 6, and he could not do these two questions. Phong thought the test was within the ability of most students and would easily get 7-8 points or more. 8.5 points would be for students with good academic performance or higher. "Anyway, I feel comfortable because I finished the test and am quite satisfied with my performance. I predict 8.5 points in math, 7 in literature, and 8.5 in English," Phong said.
Mac Thi Thanh Truc, Cong Hoa Secondary School (Chi Linh) was the first candidate to step out of the school gate at the Chi Linh High School exam site. She said she had finished questions 1, 2, parts 1 and 3 in about 60 minutes. She could not do some difficult questions as expected, including questions related to geometry. The test was within the ability of most students, but there were questions that classified candidates.
Nguyen Thi Anh Thu, a student from Kim Lien Secondary School taking the test at Kim Thanh High School, said the test was within the ability of most students. However, Thu could not do part 5 of the test, and question 6 related to inequality was not sure because these questions were very difficult and had the ability to classify candidates.
“I am confident that I can get 8 points. The score is not important anymore because the exam is over. Now I feel very comfortable because I have passed the stressful exam,” Thu said.
Many secondary school math teachers commented that the exam followed the matrix that the Hai Duong Department of Education and Training had instructed. However, the exam was more difficult than last year, differentiating the students' levels. Many candidates could not get 1.5 points. Scores of 7-8 will be high, but scores of 9 and 10 points are rare.
Teacher Nguyen Huu Khang, a math teacher at Le Thanh Nghi Secondary School (Gia Loc) said that candidates can easily get 5 points in questions 1 to 1, question 3, which are related to low levels of recognition, understanding and application, but they must do the test firmly and not make any mistakes. The test begins to differentiate at question 2, question 3. This year in particular, for the first time, the test has a question related to the quantitative formula in a right triangle in question 4, but it does not make it difficult for candidates. The question that differentiates students is question b of question 5, which is related to geometry. The last question is related to inequality, and candidates who have reviewed many advanced questions and are truly excellent can solve it. The score range will be from 7-8 points. A score of 10 will appear, but only for truly excellent students.
In the afternoon of the last exam, the weather was hot. However, many parents still accompanied their children until the end. After the last exam, the whole family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Huong in Sao Do ward came to pick up her son at the exam site of Chi Linh High School. Ms. Huong was very excited because her son did well in the exams with scores of 7-8 points/subject. With this result, she hopes that her son can be admitted to grade 10 at Chi Linh High School. "After many days of pressure, today after the exam, seeing my son in a comfortable mood and being able to do the test, I breathed a sigh of relief. Anyway, the exam is over, the score is not important anymore, now I have to let my son rest comfortably after a long time of studying, pressure, and hard work", Ms. Huong said.
Traffic safety and security at the examination sites continue to be ensured. Police, security guards, and youth volunteers work enthusiastically and responsibly.
According to a quick report from the Department of Education and Training, 21 students were absent from the math exam without reason. In addition, there were no incidents in all examination councils; no candidates or staff in charge of organizing the exam violated the exam regulations.
On June 3, candidates who register for the specialized subject exam will take the exam at Nguyen Trai High School for the Gifted (Hai Duong City). In the morning, they will take the exams in literature, math, and biology. In the afternoon, they will take the exams in physics, chemistry, history, geography, and English.
