Iran's IRNA news agency, citing a number of well-informed sources in the country, said two of the attackers detonated explosive belts while attacking a police station in the city of Zahedan, the capital of Sistan-Baluchistan province.
There are currently no reports of casualties in the incident.
Iran has been hit by a number of terrorist attacks in recent years, most notably an attack on a Shiite mosque in the southern Iranian city of Shiraz that killed at least 15 people in October 2022.
The self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS) group often carries out these attacks.
