The US Embassy advises US citizens to be prepared to take immediate shelter if there is an air strike warning.
According to the US State Department's Bureau of Consular Affairs, the US Embassy in Kiev (Ukraine) has received information that an airstrike may occur on November 20 and will be closed.
According to Reuters, in a statement posted on the website of the US Embassy in Kiev, the US State Department said: "Out of an abundance of caution, the embassy will be closed and embassy staff are asked to shelter in place. The US Embassy advises US citizens to be prepared to immediately take shelter if an air strike warning is issued."
The warning came a day after Ukraine used US ATACMS missiles to attack Russian territory.
Earlier, according to The New York Times, the outgoing administration of President Joe Biden allowed Ukraine to attack deep into Russia with long-range weapons provided by the US as the war entered its 1,000th day.
According to RT, for many months, Russian President Vladimir Putin has warned the West that if they allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to attack Russia, the country will consider them as direct participants in the war in Ukraine.
In fact, immediately after receiving the green light from the US, Ukraine used ATACMS to attack Russia's Bryansk province on the night of November 19. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this was a signal that the West wanted to "escalate the conflict".
Speaking after attending the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, Mr. Lavrov stressed that Ukraine would not be able to use this high-tech missile without US support. He also repeated President Putin's statement that Russia's position would change if the West supported extending the attack range to 300 km.
Regarding the attack, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the country's Pantsir and S-400 air defense systems shot down five missiles and damaged one. Missile fragments fell on the area of a military facility in Bryansk province, causing a fire that was promptly extinguished. The attack caused no casualties or damage.
Ukraine also confirmed an attack on a military weapons depot in Bryansk overnight but did not specify the type of weapon.
