President Vo Van Thuong said that entering a new stage of development shows that national solidarity is the most important factor, the source of strength for the country to move forward steadily.
On the occasion of the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam National United Front (November 18, 1930 - November 18, 2023), on the morning of November 11, President Vo Van Thuong attended and shared joy with the ethnic people of Xay Dung village, Suoi Trai commune, Son Hoa district, Phu Yen province in the National Great Unity Festival.
Also attending were Party Central Committee members: Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission Pham Tat Thang; Secretary of Phu Yen Provincial Party Committee Pham Dai Duong and leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
Suoi Trai is a highland commune in Son Hoa district, Phu Yen province, more than 50km from Tuy Hoa city. This is where the Ede ethnic community lives with cultural values, traditional festivals rich in identity, sincere and hospitable people. The people of the whole commune live on agriculture, mainly sugarcane, cassava and cassava.
Xay Dung Village is located in the center of Suoi Trai Commune with 187 households, 984 people, of which 171 are ethnic minority households. This is a village with many difficulties with over 60% of households being poor and near-poor.
Under the leadership of the authorities at all levels in recent times, Xay Dung village has mobilized people to eliminate backward customs to access information on new and healthy cultural life, preserve and promote the cultural identity of the nation to suit the times such as weddings and funerals without ostentation or formality to combat waste.
Economic development is of concern with a total herd of over 800 livestock and poultry in the village. Education promotion work is of concern, with a high rate of children attending school at the right age at all levels.
Speaking with ethnic people in Xay Dung village, Suoi Trai commune on the great festival of national solidarity, President Vo Van Thuong acknowledged and was pleased with the good results in labor production, improving living standards, and building the government and community of the people in the village and commune.
The President emphasized that the spirit of great national unity is a precious tradition of the Vietnamese people. Thanks to the spirit of great national unity, under the leadership of the Party, our people have completed the cause of national liberation, unification, bringing the country together, and leading the country into the cause of building socialism and defending the Fatherland.
Thanks to the great national unity, the entire Party, people and army entered the cause of Renovation, overcame difficulties and challenges, and achieved great and historic achievements, making our country have never had the foundation, potential, position and international prestige as it does today.
The President said that entering a new stage of development, with complicated developments in the regional and international situation, shows that national solidarity is the most important factor, the source of strength for our country to move forward steadily.
President Vo Van Thuong highly appreciated the recent achievements of Suoi Trai commune, with people in the commune increasing crop and livestock production and improving their lives.
With 90% of the population being ethnic minorities, the people in the commune have together preserved and promoted the precious cultural traditions of their nation; united, believed in the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws; and together strived to improve their lives.
Notably, despite starting from a particularly difficult commune in the West of Phu Yen, the education of children in Suoi Trai commune is always taken care of and facilitated.
Along with that, political security and social order and safety are maintained, creating a peaceful environment for people to feel secure in working, producing, improving their lives, and promoting good cultural values.
The President highly appreciated that under the direction of the Vietnam Fatherland Front at all levels, the new rural construction program nationwide and in Suoi Trai commune has achieved many important achievements.
At the same time, the President believes that in the coming time, the Party Committee, government and people of Suoi Trai commune will continue to achieve many new achievements in all fields.
The President said that with the high poverty rate, the most important task for the people of Suoi Trai commune is to unite to eliminate hunger and sustainably reduce poverty; actively raise livestock and poultry, striving to reduce the poverty rate by 3-4% or higher each year.
The President also hopes that people will pay more attention and create more favorable conditions for their children's education because education is still the way to escape poverty sustainably.
The President also asked people to cultivate, nurture and promote the traditional beauty of their nation, "passing it on from generation to generation" so that the gong sounds and singing of the ethnic groups in Suoi Trai commune can be passed down, preserved and continuously spread.
In particular, the President asked people to join hands to maintain security and order in villages and communes, so that they can always have a peaceful life. Along with that, people always raise their vigilance, detect distorted arguments, calls, and propaganda to sabotage the great national unity bloc.
The President also instructed the leaders of Son Hoa district to do a good job in training and fostering commune-level and grassroots cadres. The district continues to invest and complete the targets of new rural construction; constantly upgrade basic infrastructure to serve the lives and activities of the people; continue to encourage the people to strengthen the strength of great solidarity, and successfully complete the political-economic, cultural-social tasks of the locality.
President Vo Van Thuong and the Central delegation participated in the vibrant, colorful and solidarity festival activities of the people in Suoi Trai commune.
On this occasion, President Vo Van Thuong and leaders of the Vietnam Fatherland Front and Phu Yen province presented gifts to educational managers, outstanding teachers, prestigious people and outstanding students.
Previously, President Vo Van Thuong and his delegation offered incense and flowers at the Nhan Mountain Memorial located on Nhan Mountain in Ward 1, Tuy Hoa City. This is a project to honor the children of Phu Yen and from different regions across the country who heroically sacrificed on Phu Yen land in the cause of national liberation, national unification, and defense of the Fatherland.
The Nhan Mountain Memorial was built on an area of 3,300 square meters, with the stele house depicting a flock of swallows flying towards the sea. Inside the stele house are 38 stele pillars with the names of 13,085 martyrs of Phu Yen province and 4 stele pillars with the names of 1,000 martyrs from other localities.
On this occasion, the President visited the family of Mr. Ka So Lieng, born in 1936, (Cham Hroi ethnic group), 45 years of Party membership, in Kien Thiet village, Ea Cha Rang commune, Son Hoa district.
