The final match of the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival 2024 (DIFF 2024) took place on the evening of July 13, creating a buzz for tourism in the city. According to a survey by Mustgo, an online booking platform with more than 250 4-5 star hotel partners in Da Nang, the occupancy rate of hotels in the city, near the fireworks display, reached approximately 100%.

Specifically, hotels located right in the fireworks area such as Novotel Da Nang, Wyndham Golden Bay Da Nang, Hilton Da Nang "sold out" early. Hotels in the beach area such as Mangata Beachfront, Hilton Garden Inn Da Nang are also almost fully booked.

In the past week, it has been almost impossible to find a room in a good location near the fireworks display. Many guests have been forced to stay in expensive rooms at some beachfront hotels or resorts far from the fireworks display area.

During the festival, hotels in the Sun Hospitality Group system recorded 100% occupancy, full rooms very early, applying listed prices for peak weekend season. Novotel Danang Premier Han River Hotel achieved the earliest room occupancy rate due to its favorable location and Skybar36 with a beautiful view to watch the fireworks nights.

Mr. Tran Quoc Hung, Head of Mustgo Product Development Department, commented that the attraction of DIFF 2024 has somewhat cooled down in the first competition nights due to the impact of high airfare costs. The room occupancy rate in the previous fireworks competition nights was slower than the final night and slower than the same period last year.

"The final night takes place at a time when families' summer travel demand is at its peak after their children finish stressful exams," Mr. Hung explained the attraction of the fireworks final night that made Da Nang fully booked.

A survey by Mustgo on May 31 showed that in the first few nights, room occupancy rates at hotels near the event venue reached about 60%, and at hotels 3-4 km away reached about 45-50%.

Currently, finding hotels about 4 km away from the fireworks display site has also become more difficult. A representative of Hung Anh Hotel, about 4.5 km away from the fireworks display site, said that 70 rooms were fully booked two days before the final night, with guests from travel agencies accounting for 70%.

Ms. Doan Nhi, owner of a hotel on Tran Hung Dao Street, about 4 km from the fireworks display site, also confirmed that almost all rooms are sold out, with only two rooms left due to the group's sudden cancellation. However, Ms. Nhi is confident that all rooms will be sold out on July 12 because demand for rooms is currently very high.

In addition to hotel rooms, tickets for the final night were sold out three weeks ago - according to a representative of the DIFF 2024 organizing committee. In the 5 competition nights, 50,000 tickets were sold, mainly through agents in the ticket distribution system. The two nights with the fastest "selling out" rates were the opening and final nights.

A representative of Sun Group, the unit that accompanies, sponsors and organizes DIFF 2024, said the festival has long become the city's brand. From the actual interest of tourists in this year's festival, the representative of this unit commented that DIFF is "a magnet attracting visitors to Da Nang", creating a boost for the summer tourism industry, stimulating many other sectors of the city's economy such as transportation, accommodation, and restaurants.
