On the afternoon of April 21, local time, in the capital city of Havana, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, President of the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association Vu Hai Ha received Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Cuban National Assembly, President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Maria Yolanda Ferrer and National Assembly Delegate, Cuban Hero, Director of the Cuban Institute for Friendship with Peoples (ICAP) Fernando Gonzalez Llort.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha expressed his pleasure to meet Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee, President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Maria Yolanda Ferrer and Director of ICAP Fernando Gonzalez Llort in the capital city of Havana on the occasion of the official visit to Cuba by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue; and thanked the association and institute for their contributions to consolidating and strengthening Vietnam-Cuba relations over the past time.
President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association Maria Yolanda Ferrer and Director of ICAP Fernando Gonzalez Llort said they have closely followed the activities of National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue and the high-ranking delegation of the Vietnamese National Assembly in Cuba in recent days; they were extremely pleased that the Chairman of the Vietnamese National Assembly and Cuban leaders focused on discussing economic, trade and investment cooperation to support Cuba in resolving current difficulties in food and consumer goods.
Appreciating the two countries' organization of a Business Forum within the framework of the visit and the many cooperation agreements between businesses and localities of the two countries signed on this occasion, the President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association and Director of ICAP emphasized that this has important significance, promoting economic, trade and investment cooperation between the two countries in the coming time.
The President of the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association and the Director of ICAP also shared with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee about the activities organized by these two agencies and the initiatives to further consolidate and strengthen the Vietnam-Cuba friendship; affirming that members of the Institute and the Association all have deep affection for Vietnam, "everyone is Cuban and very Vietnamese."
Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha sincerely thanked the Cuba-Vietnam Friendship Association and ICAP for their effective contributions to preserving and promoting the special friendship and solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba; and said that in recent years, the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association has also had many positive activities to strengthen the friendship between the two peoples.
The association's members are active in many fields and always strive to contribute to strengthening Vietnam-Cuba relations.
Emphasizing that 2023 will have many important events in the relationship between the two countries, including the official visit to Cuba by National Assembly Chairman Vuong Dinh Hue to commemorate these events, Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee Vu Hai Ha said that the Vietnam-Cuba Friendship Association has planned to organize activities to commemorate these events, organize competitions to learn about Cuba and President Fidel Castro to enhance mutual understanding and pass on to younger generations the special relationship between the two countries.
The Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee hopes that the two sides will continue to strengthen cooperation activities, support the establishment of the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies; exchange experiences on Vietnam's innovation and the process of updating Cuba's socio-economic development model to promptly share and support each other in the development process of each country; and propose to increase delegation exchanges between the two Friendship Associations.
