Surpassing many big names from Japan, Nepal, Indonesia..., Cuc Phuong National Park won the award for Asia's Leading National Park in 2023.
Butterfly season at Cuc Phuong National Park
On the morning of August 7, Mr. Bui Van Manh - Director of Ninh Binh Department of Tourism - confirmed that Cuc Phuong National Park won the award for Asia's Leading National Park in 2023 organized by World Travel Awards.
To date, Cuc Phuong National Park has received this prestigious award five times in a row (from 2019-2023). Other candidates running with Cuc Phuong include: Chitwan National Park (Nepal), Fuji-Hakone-Izu (Japan), Kinabalu (Malaysia), Komodo (Indonesia), Minneriya (Sri Lanka) and Taman Negara (Malaysia).
Cuc Phuong National Park is about 120km from Hanoi. This is a nature reserve, a special-use area established on July 7, 1962, with an area of over 22,000 hectares, located in 14 communes, 4 districts of 3 provinces: Ninh Binh, Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa.
The cool green space gives visitors a feeling of relaxation when visiting Cuc Phuong National Park.
Currently, Cuc Phuong has a rich vegetation with more than 2,200 species of higher plants and mosses; it is home to 122 species of reptiles and amphibians, 66 species of fish, nearly 2,000 species of insects and 135 species of mammals, including the white-cheeked black langur, a beautiful and rare primate chosen as the symbol of Cuc Phuong.
Cuc Phuong attracts tourists by its peaceful and relaxing scenery with ancient green trees. Especially, at the end of April and the beginning of May, Cuc Phuong fascinates tourists by the butterflies spreading all over the forest entrance.
According to the organizers, Cuc Phuong National Park continues to affirm the attractiveness of ecotourism - one of the key tourism types of Vietnam's tourism industry.
The Asia's Leading National Park 2023 award ceremony is scheduled to take place on September 6 in Ho Chi Minh City. In 2022, Ho Chi Minh City will also host the World Travel Awards (Asia - Oceania region).
