At a meeting with the delegation of the 17th Provincial People's Council, voters of Kinh Mon town (Hai Duong) proposed that all levels and sectors consider and increase the enrollment quota for grade 10 in public schools.
On the afternoon of November 22, at the People's Committee of An Luu Ward (Kinh Mon), the delegation of the 17th Provincial People's Council and the delegation of the Kinh Mon Town People's Council met with voters of the town before the 2024 Year-End Session of the Provincial People's Council.
At the meeting, voters in Hien Thanh ward reported that in recent years, due to population growth, the demand for 9th grade students to take the entrance exam to public high schools in the area has increased, but the enrollment quota for these schools has not increased, causing pressure on students, families and schools.
Voters recommend that all levels and sectors consider and increase enrollment quotas for public high schools in the area. Announce enrollment quotas and the third exam subject early so that students can be proactive in their studies. Invest funds for schools to build infrastructure and classrooms when enrollment quotas increase.
Responding to the above opinion, Comrade Sai Thi Yen, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Director of the Department of Home Affairs of Hai Duong, representative of the delegation of the Provincial People's Council, affirmed that Kinh Mon town has 4 public high schools, more than other localities. The number of 9th grade students in the town is large and increasing, but the pressure on students to take the entrance exam for public grade 10 is not as high as Hai Duong city. The rate of 9th grade students entering public grade 10 in the 2022-2023 school year in Kinh Mon town is higher than Hai Duong city, higher than the average of the whole province.
However, the delegation will report and propose to increase the quota for public high schools, ensuring consistency with the teaching staff at the schools. Currently, localities are speeding up the progress of building classrooms according to the Resolution of the Provincial People's Council.
At the meeting, 7 other opinions raised issues of investment in road construction; site clearance; early implementation of some projects; landfill renovation, investment in waste treatment plants; supporting operating costs for some grassroots associations...
The opinions were listened to and answered specifically by the delegation of the Provincial People's Council and the Town People's Council.
