Player Tran Duc Minh won a ticket to the main round of the 3-cushion carom World Cup

Duc Minh was in Group J in the final qualifying round, playing on the morning of February 28, Hanoi time. He started smoothly when he defeated Kim Do-hyun 40-11 after 16 rounds. Of those, Duc Minh scored at least 1 point in 14 rounds, and his average score reached 2,500 points per round.

In the final match for the top spot, Duc Minh lost to Portugal's number one player Rui Manuel Costa 31-40 after 33 rounds. That result helped Costa top Group J with two wins, to advance to the main round. Duc Minh finished second in the group, with an average score of 1.448.

In the final qualifying round, the top 12 players in each group will advance to the main round, while the three runners-up with the highest average will advance. Duc Minh is the runner-up with the third highest average, behind Jean Paul de Bruijn with 1,800 points and Roland Forthomme with 1,450 points.

Thus, all 5 Vietnamese players who came to Bogota were able to play in the main round. The remaining 4 players did not have to play in the qualifying round, including Tran Quyet Chien, Bao Phuong Vinh, Chiem Hong Thai and Tran Thanh Luc, thanks to being in the top 14 in the world.

The Carom 3-Cushion World Cup currently takes place in seven stages each year, starting in Bogota. Quyet Chien is the most successful Asian player, with four championships, including two titles in 2024. Duc Minh is the only other Vietnamese player to have won, in Ho Chi Minh City last year. Phuong Vinh's best result was runner-up, Hong Thai reached the semi-finals twice, and Thanh Luc has never been in the top 4.
