COVID-19 vaccination
British scientists believe that injecting the COVID-19 vaccine and the seasonal flu vaccine at the same time will help people avoid the risk of getting sick and will not affect the body's immune response.
The study was conducted by scientists at the University of Bristol and published on September 30. 679 volunteers in 12 areas across England and Wales participated in this scientific project and were divided into 2 groups.
The first group received a COVID-19 vaccine and a seasonal flu vaccine in the first trial. This group then received a placebo in the second trial.
Meanwhile, the second group will receive a COVID-19 vaccine and a placebo at the same time in the first round of the study, and a flu vaccine 1 day later.
Results showed that both groups of volunteers had mild to moderate side effects for the three seasonal flu vaccines and the COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer and AstraZeneca.
According to this study, 97% of participating volunteers said they would be willing to receive two vaccines at the same time in the future.
Research monitoring team leader Rajeka Lazarus assessed this as a positive step and in the future people will be able to inject two types of vaccines at the same time without wasting time.
Scientists have presented the results of this study to the UK Joint Committee on Immunization for authorities to consider and have future policies for vaccination programs.
