President Luong Cuong arrives in Santiago, starting official visit to Chile

At 3:45 p.m. on November 9 local time (early morning of November 10 Vietnam time), the plane carrying President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Arturo M. Benitez International Airport in Santiago de Chile, starting an official visit to the Republic of Chile at the invitation of President Gabriel Boric Font.

Welcoming President Luong Cuong and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at Arturo M. Benitez airport on the Chilean side were Foreign Minister Alberto van Klaveren Stork, Chilean Ambassador to Vietnam Sergio Narea and a number of officials from the Chilean Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On the Vietnamese side, there were Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile Nguyen Viet Cuong and staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile.

This is the first visit by a Vietnamese President to Chile in the past 15 years, thereby helping to create new momentum to promote and deepen the Vietnam-Chile Comprehensive Partnership to continue to go deeper, more practical and effective.

Over the years, despite the great geographical distance, the diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Chile have continued to develop well. The relationship in many fields between Vietnam and Chile has become increasingly close and trustworthy, demonstrated through visits and contacts between high-ranking leaders and leaders of ministries, sectors and localities.

The visit also aims to continue implementing the foreign policy of independence, self-reliance, diversification and multilateralization of foreign relations, proactively and actively integrating comprehensively and extensively into the world, and raising the level of multilateral diplomacy in the spirit of the 13th National Party Congress, contributing to promoting peace, cooperation, economic linkages and regional connectivity; demonstrating Vietnam's consistent policy of always attaching importance to and wishing to consolidate and promote the Vietnam-Chile relationship.

During the visit, President Luong Cuong is expected to attend the official welcoming ceremony, hold talks with President Gabriel Boric Font, and witness the signing ceremony of cooperation documents between the two countries.

The President will also meet with the Presidents of the Chilean Senate and House of Representatives; receive leaders of the Communist Party and the Socialist Party of Chile, as well as the Chile-Vietnam Friendship Association; lay a wreath at the Ho Chi Minh Monument in the capital Santiago de Chile; visit the Vietnamese Embassy in Chile and a number of other important activities.
