The 2025 high school graduation exam will take place on June 26 and 27, with two exam schedules for candidates studying under the new and old programs.
On March 24, the Ministry of Education and Training issued guidelines for organizing the 2025 high school graduation exam, detailing the exam schedule.
This year, the first batch of candidates under the 2018 program will take the graduation exam, but there are still candidates studying under the old program (2006) who need to retake the exam to be considered for graduation recognition or to get points to register for university. Therefore, the ministry has proposed two exam schedules for these two groups.
Exam schedule for candidates following the current general education program (2018):
Exam schedule for candidates following the 2006 general education program:
Candidates taking the graduation exam for the first time must take four exams, including compulsory math and literature. In addition, they choose two subjects they have studied at school (chemistry, physics, biology, geography, history, economic and legal education, information technology, and foreign languages).
The literature exam is in essay format. The remaining subjects are multiple choice with multiple choice, true/false and short answer questions.
In the graduation score calculation formula, exam scores account for 50%; the rest is the grade 10, 11 and 12 report card scores (50%) and priority points if any. Compared to before, the report card score increased by 20%.
Candidates taking the old program will take the literature, math, foreign language exams, and one of two exams: Natural Sciences (physics, chemistry, biology) and Social Sciences (history, geography, civics).
The exam results will be announced on July 16, one day earlier than last year.
