On the morning of September 7, at the regular Government meeting for August 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the Government has established a forward command post in Hai Phong to direct the work of preventing and combating storm No. 3.
Attending the meeting were Deputy Prime Ministers Nguyen Hoa Binh, Le Thanh Long, Ho Duc Phoc, Bui Thanh Son; Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan; ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies.
In the face of the situation of storm No. 3 with very strong intensity, high level of natural disaster risk, complicated developments that are directly affecting the mainland of the Northeast and North Central regions of our country, the Prime Minister said that the Government has established a Forward Command in Hai Phong to direct the work of storm prevention and control. A number of ministers and deputy ministers have been sent to localities, especially coastal provinces and cities, to direct and urge storm prevention and control; the Ministry of National Defense and the Ministry of Public Security have mobilized forces to be on duty and help people prevent and control the storm.
Informing that the Prime Minister has continuously issued telegrams on monitoring developments and organizing storm prevention and control measures, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh requested ministers, heads of ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies to directly direct storm prevention and control and overcome the consequences of storm No. 3 and floods caused by storm circulation in accordance with the spirit of the Prime Minister's telegrams.
According to the program, the meeting discussed and gave opinions on the socio-economic situation in August and the first 8 months of 2024; the situation of allocation and disbursement of public investment capital; the implementation of 3 National Target Programs; the implementation of the 2024 socio-economic development plan, and the expected 2025 socio-economic development plan.
The Government also assessed the implementation of the public investment plan for 2024, the expected public investment plan for 2025; the handling of some difficulties for the infrastructure investment project of Phu Vinh Industrial Park and Hoanh Son Industrial Park in Vung Ang Economic Zone, Ha Tinh; assessed the direction and administration of the Government and the Prime Minister in August, the key tasks of direction in September and some other important contents.
Looking back at the situation in August 2024, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said that the work of perfecting leadership positions had been organized in accordance with regulations and fully completed; documents for the 14th National Party Congress continued to be prepared. Meanwhile, the world situation was still evolving rapidly, with both positive and negative factors intertwined, but the negative ones were more numerous.
Assessing the socio-economic situation in August, our country continued to have a positive trend, better than July, and overall the first 8 months were better than the same period in all areas, the Prime Minister requested the Government members attending the meeting to focus on the assessment in the spirit of "not beautifying, not blackening; creating an exciting atmosphere, consolidating and enhancing the confidence of the people, businesses and investors". It is necessary to have an objective and profound view, with specific figures to prove it; evaluate the direction and administration of the Government; analyze the strengths, limitations, lessons learned to continue directing, administering and organizing implementation in the coming time to achieve higher results.
The Prime Minister also requested Government members to analyze, make forecasts and assessments of the situation in September and the coming time; propose breakthrough mechanisms, policies and solutions; areas that need to be focused on; tasks and solutions in the coming time to promote growth; stabilize the macro-economy, control inflation, ensure major balances, especially for key areas of the economy; resolve outstanding issues; ensure social security; maintain national sovereignty, political security, social order and safety, promote foreign affairs...
