On the morning of July 30, the People's Court of Hai Duong province held a first-instance trial and sentenced Luong Minh Anh (born in 1997, residing in Thanh Quang commune, Nam Sach) to 16 years in prison for fraud and property appropriation.

According to the indictment, from March 20, 2021 to May 11, 2022, Minh Anh provided false information about his relationship with the investor of residential projects in Nam Sach district, Hai Duong city and was given priority to deposit to reserve land plots before they were opened for sale at "diplomatic" prices.
With the above tricks, Minh Anh appropriated more than 8.8 billion VND from 11 people in Hai Duong city, Nam Sach, Tu Ky and Cam Giang districts. After receiving the deposit, Minh Anh used the money to pay debts, personal expenses and online gambling.
The trial panel sentenced Luong Minh Anh to 16 years in prison for fraud and appropriation of property under Point a, Clause 4, Article 174 of the Penal Code.
