On the morning of July 24, the People's Court of Hai Duong province opened a first-instance trial and sentenced Nguyen Thi Thuy Trang to 15 years and 9 months in prison for fraud and appropriation of property and use of fake documents; Nguyen Van Long to 15 years and 6 months in prison for fraud and appropriation of property, use of fake documents of agencies and organizations, and failure to report crimes. Long and Trang are husband and wife, both born in 1991 in Minh Tan ward (Kinh Mon).
On April 22, 2022, at Ha Chieu residential area, Minh Tan ward, Trang used a fake Toyota car registration certificate, license plate 34C-302.05 to sell the car to Ms. Dao Thi Thuy Linh (born in 1993 in the same commune), appropriating 660 million VND. Long knew clearly that Trang used a fake registration certificate to sell the car to Ms. Linh but did not report it to law enforcement agencies.
On May 27, 2022, Trang and Long used a fake land use right certificate to give to Ms. Nguyen Thi Hue (born in 1973, in Phu Thu ward, Kinh Mon) as collateral and appropriated 600 million VND from Ms. Hue.
