Le Van Thang has just completed a 30-day cross-country motorbike trip. |
Le Van Thang (born in 1993, Dong Nai) just finished his cross-country motorbike trip on March 10. Although he did not plan carefully, Thang's trip lasted exactly 1 month, starting from February 10.
Thang said this was the first time he had taken such a long trip by motorbike. Previously, his longest trips were just under 1,000km - a small tour of the West.
But this is also a trip he has cherished for a long time, but due to the epidemic, it has had to be postponed several times.
Before leaving, Thang informed his family. At first, everyone was quite worried but later supported his trip.
“My paternal hometown is in Hue and my maternal hometown is in Ha Nam, so I spent the most time in these two places, a total of 10 days. I also wanted to take this opportunity to experience the winter in the North,” Thang shared.
As a nature lover, Thang chose to ride along the coastal road. He said that this newly built road is very beautiful and convenient. Every day he drives 300-400km, going at a moderate speed, not in a hurry.
“Luckily, throughout the trip, I did not encounter any vehicle or traffic problems.”

Impressed by the scenery and people of the Northwest |
Thang also did not stop in all provinces and cities, but only chose places with natural beauty to visit. “I am not interested in man-made tourist areas, but prefer places that are still wild.”
The region that impressed him the most was the Northwest. “This was also the first time I set foot in the Northwest, it was truly a wonderful experience. The mountain scenery was majestic, the people were lovely. I was invited by the owner of the restaurant in Ta Xua to eat thang co, drink wine, and meet very cute ethnic girls.”
“Another impressive point is that the road up here is extremely steep and dangerous for a person from the South like me. Initially, before going from Ha Giang to Dong Van, I thought it was only 140km, I would probably leave in the morning and return in the evening, because I didn’t know what the road in the Northwest was like. Unexpectedly, it took me from morning to evening to get there.”

During his time exploring the Northwest, Thang also met many young people from the South. They became friends and showed each other cheap “homestays” and beautiful destinations.
“One of the most 'profitable' things on this trip of mine is friends,” Thang said.
He also shared that the trip was not too difficult. When he returned home on March 10, he did not have to rest much. The next day, he felt normal and healthy. "Maybe because of the epidemic, I volunteered to carry vegetables and goods a lot" - Thang said with a smile.
As a foodie, he also shared that wherever he goes, he tries all the specialties of that region. “I have to say that Vietnamese cuisine is so delicious and cheap, especially in the Central region. Many times when I stood up to pay, I was shocked because it was so cheap.”

Regarding the cost of the trip, Thang expects to spend about 15 million VND, an average of 500,000 VND per day. However, because he has many friends across the country, he often stops by to visit them and asks to stay for 1-2 nights.
Out of 30 days, he only slept in a motel for 5 days at 150,000 VND/night, and in a hostel for 4 days at a few tens of thousands of VND per bed. The 6 million VND spent on the whole trip was actually mostly for food and gas.
Thang said that this trip gave him wonderful and valuable experiences. It was also an opportunity for his body and mind to relax after a long period of the epidemic, as well as to "de-stress" from having to sit at the computer too much due to the nature of his work.
He hopes that young people who intend to travel across Vietnam by motorbike like him will boldly experience it. “Because now the roads are very convenient, you just need to arrange 3 factors: time, money and health to be able to go.”
