A household in Hai Tan ward (Hai Duong city) has just received a document "Notice of power supply interruption" with the reason "electricity bill not synchronized".
This notice clearly states: “Customers are requested to contact the Electricity Company (EVN) or contact a technical specialist at the electricity department for support. Customers who have paid but still receive a notice of power outage at their home, please download the EVN application (EPOINT) to link the QR CODE account to be able to more clearly track the power outage schedule at their home. We, the Electricity Company (EVN), would like to inform that power will only be restored when customers have paid all debts and costs.”
This document also has a QR code printed on it. This document is fake, the name at the beginning of the document is "Vietnam Electricity Corporation" which is incorrect, it only has Vietnam Electricity Group.
Recently, Vietnam Electricity Group has coordinated with the Ministry of Public Security to synchronize customer information (including electricity bill synchronization) on the National Population Database system. In cases where information is inconsistent, customers will be directly met to handle the issue instead of sending documents.
When receiving a text like the above, customers need to stay calm, check or call the Northern Power Corporation's Customer Care Center at 19006769. Do not rush to scan the code and follow the instructions as it is easy to be scammed.
