As reported, a representative of the People's Committee of Phu My town said that they are coordinating with relevant agencies to develop a plan to enforce the demolition and restoration of the original status of the illegal constructions at Phat Quang pagoda.

This pagoda is located in the protective forest area of Dinh mountain, previously called "Thien Ton Phat Quang", with Mr. Thich Chan Quang (real name is Vuong Tan Viet) as abbot.

In July 2018, the violations at Phat Quang Pagoda were pointed out by the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in the announcement of the conclusion of the inspection of compliance with the provisions of the law on land and construction.

Specifically, the entire area of Phat Quang Pagoda that is being used and has been granted a land use right certificate is land that has been continuously managed by the State since 1978. Currently, this area belongs to protective forest land managed by the Protective Forest Management Board of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.

The main hall area was built beyond the licensed area.

Phat Quang Pagoda has built 36 projects, but only one project was licensed by the Department of Construction, which was the main hall. However, the licensing by the department was determined to be flawed.

At the same time, the remaining 35 projects were not licensed by competent state agencies, with a total area of about 3,500 square meters. Among them, many are large and solid projects such as asphalt roads.

According to the inspection conclusion notice, during the construction of Phat Quang Pagoda, the authorities drew up 33 violation records, issued 11 decisions on administrative sanctions and decisions to suspend construction. At the same time, the authorities also issued decisions on applying remedial measures, requiring restoration of the original state. However, the pagoda's representatives did not comply and continued construction.

Until now, these illegal constructions still exist.

In March and April, the People's Committee of Phu My town issued a decision to enforce and establish a team to enforce the decision on illegal construction works at Phat Quang pagoda. The works were enforced due to encroachment on protective forest land in rural areas with an area of over 1,418m2, belonging to Tan Hoa Sub-area, Dinh Mountain Protective Forest, Phuoc Thanh Village, Tan Hoa Commune, including: concrete road (area 810m2), toilet (308.25m2), warehouse (300m2).

According to the People's Committee of Phu My town, Mr. Vuong Tan Viet filed a complaint against the decision to enforce the demolition and restore the status quo. Therefore, the Chairman of the People's Committee of the town assigned the inspectorate to verify the contents of the complaint and assigned relevant departments to promptly complete the enforcement plan according to the principle of strictly handling violations.
