Top students of the 2024 entrance exam groups have decided to register for their desired major/university according to their interests and desires. Many choices are surprising.
Top student in block A
In the 2024 admission season, the top scorer in block A is Vu Dinh Thai (student of Tay Thuy Anh High School, Thai Binh province) with a total score of 29.6; of which Math scored 9.6 points, Physics 10, Chemistry 10.
The male student said he had registered for 3 university admission wishes, but basically he would be admitted right away in Wish 1 because he met the requirements according to the early admission method. Specifically, he placed Wish 1 - the highest priority on the Information Technology major of FPT University (Hanoi). Wish 2 is the Computer Science major of Hanoi University of Science and Technology and Wish 3 is the Medicine major of Hanoi Medical University.
Thai said that although he was the valedictorian of the Hanoi University of Science and Technology Thinking Assessment exam, he considered it “just an exam for experience, at the invitation of a friend. From the beginning, I did not intend to enter Hanoi University of Science and Technology”.
According to Thai, studying at FPT University, he received a full scholarship covering 100% of tuition fees for 4 years, estimated at about 350 million VND.
“I chose to study at FPT University to ease the tuition burden for my family,” Thai said.
Top student in block B
The valedictorian of the national B block in 2024 is Nguyen Dang Linh Chi (grade 12 Chemistry, Tran Phu High School for the Gifted, Hai Phong) with a total score of 29.55 (Math 9.8; Chemistry 10 and Biology 9.75).
Linh Chi said she has registered 4 university admission wishes for 2024, in which Wish 1 is to enter the Medical Faculty of Hanoi Medical University with the B group combination. Wish 2 is the Dentistry - Maxillofacial Faculty of Hanoi Medical University with the B group combination; Wish 3 is the Pharmacy Faculty of Hanoi University of Pharmacy, with the B group combination; Wish 4 is the International Economics Faculty of National Economics University, with the D07 combination (Math, Chemistry, English).
Linh Chi hopes to be admitted to the first choice of Medicine at Hanoi Medical University.
Top student in block C
This year, there are 19 candidates who are the top students in group C with the same total score of 29.75, including 13 students from Bac Ninh province, 2 candidates from Nghe An, and 1 candidate each from Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ninh Binh, and Thanh Hoa.
One of the valedictorians is To Thi Dieu (12D1 student at Quang Xuong 4 High School, Thanh Hoa Province). She scored 9.75 in Literature; 10 in History; and 10 in Geography. Dieu lost her father at a young age, and her mother had to work hard to support her two children.
Therefore, female student To Thi Dieu decided to choose to study pedagogy because of the free tuition, with the hope that her mother would help with some of the living expenses. Dieu said she had registered for two admission wishes and both were in the Literature Pedagogy major of Hanoi National University of Education.
The first choice is to apply for admission using the high school graduation exam score. The second choice is to apply for admission using the results of the Hanoi National University of Education's competency assessment exam and in fact, the student is eligible for early admission according to this choice.
Another valedictorian is Nguyen Thi Cam Tu (12D1 student at Phan Thuc Truc High School, Nghe An Province) who scored 9.75 in Literature and 10 in History and Geography. Cam Tu plans to enroll in the Public Relations major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi. "I chose this major because I want to practice and change myself in a dynamic environment," Cam Tu said.
Or valedictorian Luong Thi Hoai Thu (12C2 student of Nghe An Ethnic Boarding High School No. 2) also got 2 10s in History and Geography, and 9.75 in Literature. Hoai Thu said she will enroll in the Primary Education program at Vinh University. "Teaching is a profession I really like and want to pursue," Thu said.
Top student of block D1
The valedictorian of block D1 in 2024 is Nguyen Phuong Linh (student of class 12A12, Vinh Phuc High School for the Gifted, Vinh Phuc province) with a total score of 28.75. Specifically, in block D1, Phuong Linh scored 10 points in English, 9 points in Math and 9.75 points in Literature.
The female student decided to register only one admission wish for the Business Administration major at VinUni University, instead of public universities. This is the wish that Phuong Linh was eligible for early admission, receiving a 75% tuition waiver scholarship from the school (through academic records, essays, interviews), before taking the high school graduation exam.
“This is my aspiration since the beginning of grade 12. In addition to being exempted from tuition fees, I see many opportunities for myself if I study at this school. I personally really like and find the highly international environment more suitable than a public school,” Linh shared.
The female student is hoping that the school will create conditions to increase the scholarship when she becomes the valedictorian of block D1 this year. According to Phuong Linh, the school's tuition is about 815 million VND/year.
Top student of block A1
The valedictorian of block A1 in 2024 is Nguyen Hao Thien (student of class 12E1, Le Thanh Tong Secondary School, Ho Chi Minh City) with a total score of 29.6. Of which, he scored 9.8 points in Math, 10 points in Physics and 9.8 points in English.
Hao Thien plans to register his first choice for Computer Science at the University of Technology - Ho Chi Minh City National University; his second choice is Computer Science at the University of Natural Sciences - Ho Chi Minh City National University.
