Dream of becoming a history teacher

Xuan Mai achieved excellent results with scores in 3 subjects of block C: literature 9.25, history 10, geography 10. Although she knew her exam scores in the morning, it was not until the evening of July 17, when reading Hai Duong newspaper, that she learned that she was one of the valedictorians of the province.

Xuan Mai still modestly said that this achievement was only within the province, and that there were many other valedictorians with higher scores nationwide. However, she was still very happy and immediately told her mother to share this joy. Xuan Mai's mother was also very proud of her little daughter, and immediately called everyone to share the joy.

With this result, I wish to enter the Faculty of History Education at Hanoi National University of Education. Becoming a history teacher has long been Xuan Mai's dream, because I want to convey historical knowledge to students so that they can respect the past, be proud of the traditions of their homeland and country, and be grateful for the contributions and sacrifices of previous generations... Another reason for me to choose to study pedagogy is to reduce the burden of tuition fees for my family. Therefore, all my wishes are in the pedagogy field.

Sharing the secret to getting a perfect score in history, Xuan Mai said that this year's exam was quite easy, she just reviewed the knowledge in the textbook, systematized the knowledge together to make it easy to remember without having to take extra classes. Having memorized the entire history textbook and won an award at the provincial excellent student competition, getting a perfect score in this subject in the high school graduation exam was easy for Mai. In addition, she also got a perfect score in geography.

Recalling the literature exam, Xuan Mai said that she wrote 12 pages that day, and stopped writing when the time ran out. "After submitting the literature exam, I thought I was going to break my arm," Xuan Mai said with a laugh.

No online learning, no extra classes, just mastering the knowledge in textbooks, focusing on practicing questions in class and at home is Xuan Mai's exam preparation method. For her, to study most effectively, she usually focuses on reviewing and solving questions from 11pm to 1-2am.

In class, Mai is a good student, good at studying, gets along well with her friends and has a strong will. She was an excellent student for all 3 years of high school. Especially in social science subjects, she always got above 9 points.

Overcome difficulties and rise up

The mother's hard work in raising her children is the biggest motivation for Xuan Mai to strive to achieve this achievement (photo provided by the character)

Xuan Mai is the second child in a family of two children. Mai's father passed away when she was in 7th grade. Every day, Mai's mother worked hard selling drinks in front of Hoa Binh Hospital. She raised her two children and took care of the whole family. After school, Mai sometimes went out to help her mother sell drinks. Her brother also graduated from high school a year ago. He did not go to university but went to work to support his mother, but his job was unstable and his income was not stable.

Currently, the three of them still live in a small rented house in Hai Tan ward. The hardships and struggles of her mother and brother have become the motivation for the little girl to have the will and determination to strive in her studies.

Right after finishing her high school graduation exam, Mai went to look for a part-time job to help her mother. However, she was not yet 18 years old, so she had a lot of difficulty finding a job. Mai planned to work part-time after entering university to reduce the financial burden on her family.

Knowing Mai’s situation, at Nguyen Van Cu High School, teachers always encourage her mentally and provide material support. The school also exempts her from tuition fees. The school’s Youth Union, the City’s Youth Union, and the Hai Duong Provincial Youth Union also regularly support her with scholarships from the Warm Tet Love and Wings of Dreams programs for students with the spirit of overcoming difficulties to excel in their studies.

The results of the recent high school graduation exam are a worthy reward for the efforts of the young student to overcome difficulties and as a thank you to her family, teachers and organizations that have helped, motivated and given wings to Mai's dreams. Her dream of becoming a teacher is also to continue to inspire and help other students in difficult circumstances.
