Ministry of Public Security approves third auction plan for car license plates

The starting price of a car license plate for auction is 40 million VND. The deposit is equal to the starting price of a car license plate for auction is 40 million VND. The step price is 5 million VND. The auction is online; the auction is by ascending bid method.

The third auction was listed from March 11, 2024. The conditions for participating in the auction are that Vietnamese organizations and individuals must meet the conditions prescribed in Decree No. 39/2023/ND-CP detailing a number of articles of Resolution No. 73/2022/QH15 of the National Assembly on pilot auctions of car license plates and other relevant legal provisions.

Vietnam Auction Joint Stock Company is the unit selected by the Ministry of Public Security to organize the property auction. For each car license plate auctioned, the auction service fee paid to the property auction organization is calculated at 8% of the starting price. In addition to the auction service fee, the auction fee paid to the property auction organization is 10,000 VND/car license plate auctioned.

Within 15 days from the date of announcement of auction results, the auction winner must pay the entire auction winning amount after deducting the deposit amount into the specialized collection account number “1410123456789” of the Ministry of Public Security opened at Agribank My Dinh branch. The auction winning amount does not include vehicle registration fee.

The Traffic Police Department (Ministry of Public Security) is assigned to manage and supervise the implementation of automobile license plate auctions. Major General Nguyen Van Trung, Director of the Traffic Police Department, said that as of early February 2024, after 3 months of organizing car license plate auctions, more than 15,000 license plates had been successfully auctioned with a total amount of over 2,000 billion VND.

Previously, in the first session, the Ministry of Public Security put up 153,104 license plates and in the second session, 288,668 license plates were auctioned.
