The Ministry of Public Security's assessment test is expected to consist of three parts, including the optional part of physics, chemistry, biology and geography.
Lieutenant Colonel Ta Xuan Tung, Head of the Department of Content Management and Training Methods, Department of Training, Ministry of Public Security, said on December 7 that the assessment test for admission to public security schools in 2025 will be adjusted.
Specifically, the exam consists of three parts: mandatory essay, mandatory multiple choice and optional multiple choice. Candidates take the exam in 180 minutes, with a total score of 100.
The required essay section includes one social argument with a maximum total score of 25.
The mandatory multiple choice test includes 35 math questions (35 points), 10 history questions (10 points), and 20 foreign language questions (15 points).
The optional multiple choice test has 15 questions (15 points). Candidates choose one of the following subjects: physics (CA1), chemistry (CA2), biology (CA3), geography (CA4).
This structure is different from previous years, when candidates choose one of two exam codes, CA1 and CA2. The multiple choice part of the two codes is the same, testing knowledge of natural sciences, social sciences and foreign languages. The essay part of CA1 is Math, and CA2 is Literature.
Mr. Tung said this adjustment is to suit the first batch of candidates graduating from the 2018 general education program. About 70% of the knowledge on the exam will be from grade 12, the rest will be from grade 10 and 11.
"Candidates who actively review the content they are learning can participate in the assessment test of the Ministry of Public Security," said Mr. Tung.
The Ministry is preparing sample exam questions and will announce them after surveying, organizing mock exams and evaluating the quality of the questions.
The Ministry of Public Security will organize an assessment exam from 2022, combining the scores of this exam with the high school graduation exam scores to select candidates. The scoring formula in previous years is as follows:
Admission score = Total score of three graduation exams *2/5 + Assessment exam score *3/5 + Priority points according to regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training + Bonus points for excellent students at the national level.
In 2024, 8 police schools recruited 2,150 students but there were 18,000 candidates taking this exam. The highest standard score according to the above formula is 25.52.
