All points on driver's license deducted, can I still drive?

Question: In 2024, my driver's license will be revoked. Can I continue to drive?

According to Article 58 of the Law on Road Traffic Order and Safety dated June 27, 2024, effective from January 1, 2025, it is stipulated as follows:

“Article 58. Points of driving license

1. Driver's license points are used to manage drivers' compliance with laws on road traffic order and safety on the road traffic order and safety database system, including 12 points. The number of points deducted for each violation depends on the nature and severity of the violation of laws on road traffic order and safety...

2. A driver's license that has not been deducted all points and has not been deducted points within 12 months from the date of the most recent deduction will have all 12 points restored.

3. In case all points are deducted from a driving license, the license holder is not allowed to drive a vehicle on the road under that driving license. After at least 6 months from the date of all points being deducted, the license holder is allowed to participate in the test on legal knowledge on road traffic order and safety as prescribed inClause 7, Article 61 of this LawIf the results are satisfactory and organized by the Traffic Police, all 12 points will be restored.

4. After being changed, reissued or upgraded, the driving license will retain the same number of points as the driving license before being changed, reissued or upgraded.

5. The person with authority to impose administrative sanctions has the authority to deduct points from the driving license.

Thus, if all points are deducted from your driving license, you will not be allowed to drive a vehicle on the road.
