On June 12, Da Nang police issued a decision to prosecute, arrest and detain Dao Cong Phu (36 years old, residing in Thai Binh province) to investigate the crime of smuggling.
The investigation agency serves decisions to prosecute and temporarily detain suspects to investigate the crime of smuggling.
The Economic Police Department (Da Nang Police) said this was an especially serious smuggling case. The suspect used sophisticated methods and tricks, taking advantage of loopholes in customs clearance checks to smuggle goods.
According to the police, previously, the Economic Police Department had received the investigation of the smuggling case transferred by the Anti-Smuggling Investigation Department (General Department of Customs).
Through investigation and verification, the Economic Police Department determined that this was a particularly serious and complicated smuggling case, which the subject had successfully carried out many times. The Economic Police Department established a special project to focus on fighting and clarifying the case.
After investigation, the police determined that Dao Cong Phu had established a "ghost" company called Ngoc Son Company. Phu hired people to carry out import procedures for the purpose of smuggling traditional Chinese medicine from China to Vietnam.
Ngoc Son Company opened 6 customs declarations and imported a total of 21 containers of goods to Vietnam through Da Nang port. Of these, 16 containers were cleared and shipped for consumption.
Regarding the shipment of 5 containers that were undergoing customs clearance procedures, the customs force discovered that the goods inside were medicinal herbs (traditional medicine), not agricultural products as declared, with a total weight of more than 100 tons, the value of the shipment was nearly 13 billion VND.
Currently, the Da Nang Police Investigation Agency is continuing to expand the investigation into the above smuggling case.
