On January 4, Lieutenant General To An Xo, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Security, said that the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency had issued a decision to prosecute and execute an order to temporarily detain Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong, former Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.
Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong is being investigated for the crime of taking advantage of his position and power while performing official duties.
According to Lieutenant General Xo, Mr. Hoang Quoc Vuong was arrested during the Security Agency's investigation into the case of Abusing position and power while performing official duties at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

Regarding this case, previously, in November, the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency prosecuted 6 people to investigate the crime of Abusing position and power while performing official duties.

Among them, two officials of the Electricity Regulatory Authority were arrested: Tran Quoc Hung - Deputy Head of the Licensing and Public Relations Department of the Electricity Regulatory Authority (Ministry of Industry and Trade); Trinh Van Doan - Specialist of the Licensing and Public Relations Department of the Electricity Regulatory Authority.
The four arrested are officials of the Electricity Group, including: Nguyen Danh Son - Director of the Electricity Trading Company under the Vietnam Electricity Group; Nguyen Huu Khai - Head of the Electricity Trading Business Department of the Electricity Trading Company; Do Ngoc Tuyen - Specialist of this department; Truong Hoang Dung - Specialist of the Technical and Information Technology Department of the Electricity Trading Company.
Lieutenant General To An Xo added that the case is being further investigated by the Ministry of Public Security's Security Investigation Agency to strictly handle it according to the law.
