4-year-old boy dies in kindergarten water tank

On the afternoon of April 25, Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Hoang, Head of the Department of Education and Training of Cam Xuyen district (Ha Tinh) said that a 4-year-old boy studying at Cam Trung Kindergarten was found dead in a water tank.

Previously, at around 9:30 a.m. the same day, teachers at Cam Trung Kindergarten discovered a 4-year-old boy named PBD (who was studying at the school) dead in the school's cooking water tank.

Upon discovering the incident, the Board of Directors of Cam Trung Kindergarten reported it to the authorities.

Upon receiving the news, Ha Tinh Provincial Police coordinated with forensic forces to approach the scene and conduct an autopsy. Initial determination was that the boy died from drowning.

According to the Head of the Department of Education and Training of Cam Xuyen district, the drinking water tank is underground, the tank is large but the mouth is small. The mouth of the water tank only protrudes about 50 cm above ground. Normally, the drinking water tank is locked carefully, but this morning, the security guard unlocked it to pump water, but before he could lock the tank lid, the incident happened.

"This morning, the child ran out of the classroom twice and was led back into the classroom by the vice principal. Then, when the two teachers were in the classroom, the child ran out again and the teachers did not notice. When the teacher discovered that the child was not in the classroom, she searched the school area but could not find him. The school contacted the family but did not see the child return home and when they went to the water tank area, they discovered that the child had died," Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Hoang informed.

The case is under investigation and clarification.
