Four insurance companies reported that their insured customers suffered personal injuries in the above fire, with an estimated insurance payout of VND2.72 billion.
The Department of Insurance Management and Supervision - Ministry of Finance said that up to now, all 31 non-life insurance companies and 19 life insurance companies have sent reports to the Ministry on the situation of damage and insurance compensation in the fire on Trung Kinh Street (Cau Giay District, Hanoi) on May 24.
By the end of May 27, 4 insurance companies had reported that their insured customers suffered personal injuries (6 deaths) in the above fire; the estimated insurance payout was 2.72 billion VND.
Specifically, 2 life insurance companies have customers who were victims of the fire. Of these, Manulife Vietnam has 2 customers who died, the insurance payment for each customer is 1 billion VND. Sun Life is completing compensation procedures for 1 customer who died, the estimated payment is 500 million VND.
The non-life insurance sector recorded 3 customers who died in the fire, with an estimated insurance payout of 220 million VND. Of which, PVI Company had 1 customer who died, with an estimated payout of 20 million VND. PJICO Company had 2 customers who died, with an estimated payout of 200 million VND (of which 1 case was a student with a liability of 20 million VND).
PJICO is completing procedures and discussing with the victim's family to schedule direct payment.
The Department of Insurance Management and Supervision said that other insurance companies will continue to proactively review customer information and will immediately carry out procedures to resolve insurance claims and pay insurance money, if any.
Immediately after receiving information about the fire on Trung Kinh Street, on the morning of May 24, the Department of Insurance Management and Supervision sent an official dispatch to the Vietnam Insurance Association and insurance companies requesting reports on the damage and insurance compensation in the fire. The Department requested that companies proactively coordinate with relevant agencies, organizations and individuals to determine the damage to people and property of customers; immediately make advance compensation, insurance compensation, and pay insurance money quickly, promptly and fully to the insurance buyer, the insured, and the beneficiary according to the agreement in the insurance contract and legal regulations.
At the same time, the Department requested the Vietnam Insurance Association to coordinate with insurance companies to organize humanitarian support according to internal regulations and relevant legal regulations.
