Security research firm Hudson Rock said hackers had stolen the email addresses of 200 million Twitter accounts, describing it as "probably one of the largest breaches" ever seen.
Twitter has not commented on the cyber attack information.
Security research firm Hudson Rock said on January 5 that hackers stole email addresses of 200 million Twitter accounts and posted them on an online hacker forum.
"The breach unfortunately led to a series of cyber attacks. This is probably one of the largest leaks I have ever seen," said Alon Gal, co-founder of Hudson Rock, on LinkedIn.
Twitter has yet to comment on the information, which was first mentioned by Mr. Gal on social media on December 24. It is also unclear whether Twitter has taken any action related to the incident, such as investigating or fixing the problem.
Meanwhile, Troy Hunt, founder of the Have I Been Pwned site, said he had seen the leaked data and said "it seems to be as big a problem as described".
There is currently no indication of the identity or the hackers or hacker groups behind the cyberattack. Some believe the incident may have occurred in early 2021, before Elon Musk took control of Twitter.
