The Vietnamese Sports Delegation is currently ranked 15th in the 19th ASIAD overall standings with 14 medals, including 1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals.
The Vietnamese Sports Delegation quenched its "thirst" with the Gold medal of athlete Pham Quang Huy in the Shooting event on the 5th official competition day at the 19th ASIAD (held in China).
In the Men's 10m individual air pistol event, Pham Quang Huy competed excellently to win 240.5 points, thereby bringing home the first Gold medal for Vietnam.
In addition to the Gold medal, Pham Quang Huy, Lai Cong Minh and Phan Cong Minh also won the Bronze medal in the Men's 10m Air Pistol Team event.
During yesterday's competition, athlete Nguyen Van Khanh Phong also impressed with a Silver medal in Gymnastics in the rings event with a score of 14,600.
This is the first time Vietnamese Gymnastics has won a Silver medal at the ASIAD since athlete Phan Thi Ha Thanh won the Balancing Bridge event in 2014.
In Swimming, swimmer Huy Hoang achieved a time of 7 minutes 51.44 seconds, placing third in the final and winning the first medal for the Vietnamese Swimming Team at the 2023 ASIAD.
This achievement also helped Huy Hoang surpass the Olympic A standard (7 minutes 51.65 seconds) to win a ticket to the 2024 Paris Olympics.
With this achievement, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation won a total of 14 medals (1 Gold medal, 2 Silver medals and 11 Bronze medals), to rank 15th in the world. 19th Asian Games medal table.
On the 19th ASIAD medal tally, the Chinese Sports Delegation continues to hold the number 1 position with 90 Gold medals, 51 Silver medals and 26 Bronze medals.
The total number of gold medals won by the host country's Sports Delegation is nearly half the number of gold medals awarded by the Organizing Committee to the athletes.
The Korean Sports Delegation ranked second with 24 Gold medals, 23 Silver medals and 29 Bronze medals.
Meanwhile, the Japanese Sports Delegation ranked third with 18 Gold medals, 30 Silver medals and 30 Bronze medals.
The sports delegations of Uzbekistan, India and Thailand are still chasing each other fiercely in positions 4, 5 and 6, with 6 Gold medals each and only differing in the number of Silver and Bronze medals.
In addition to Thailand and Vietnam, other sports delegations in the Southeast Asian region also competed impressively to achieve good results at the 19th ASIAD.
The Indonesian Sports Delegation won 3 Gold medals, 3 Silver medals and 10 Bronze medals to rank 12th.
Right after Indonesia, the Singapore Sports Delegation also won 2 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals and 4 Bronze medals in this year's tournament.
Next, the Malaysian Sports Delegation ranked 13th with 2 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and 5 Bronze medals.
Other delegations, the Philippines and Brunei, also won Silver medals, while Laos won Bronze.
As of the morning of September 29, ASIAD 19 had a total of 33 Sports Delegations winning medals.
According to Vietnam+
