“Now and Then” is a song written and performed by John Lennon in 1978. It was one of many songs that Lennon recorded at his home in the Dakota building in New York in 1979, a year before his death. It was later completed by AI and the remaining members of the band, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr.

John Lennon's wife Yoko Ono kept the song on a cassette tape called "For Paul." In 1994, Yoko Ono gave the cassette, which contained three rough recordings of "Now and Then," "Free As a Bird," and "Real Love," to Paul McCartney. Producer Jeff Lynne edited and released "Free As a Bird" and "Real Love" in 1995 and 1996, respectively. However, the release of "Now and Then" was plagued by problems due to the inability to remove background noise. Now, the song has been released to the public with the help of AI, despite controversy over the use of this technology in the music industry.

Former Beatle Paul McCartney announced in June that the final recording would be released this year. He said he had used technology to extract the late John Lennon's voice from an old recording. The two remaining members of the band completed the recording last year, which included electric and acoustic guitars from George Harrison, who died of lung cancer, recorded in 1995. During the recording at Capitol Studios in Los Angeles, they also added Ringo Starr's drums, bass, piano and Paul McCartney's slide guitar solo, as well as backing vocals.

After processing the recording with AI, Paul McCartney confirmed that "this is John Lennon's voice, crystal clear". Drummer Ringo Starr expressed his emotions "like John Lennon was standing in the studio".

Apple Corps, Capitol and Universal Music Enterprises released the song at 14:00 GMT on November 2 (21:00 Vietnam time on the same day) along with the band's 1962 debut single "Love Me Do", with cover art by American artist Ed Ruscha. The song's music video is also expected to be released on November 3.

The legendary band The Beatles consisted of four members: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr. After disbanding in 1970, each member pursued a solo career. In 1980, Lennon was assassinated and died in New York (USA) at the age of 40, while Harrison died of lung cancer in 2001 at the age of 58. Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney continued to work as solo artists.
