On the morning of April 24, the People's Committee of Duy Tan Ward (Kinh Mon) and Thanh Quang Pagoda (the gate of the Vietnamese Cao Dong Zen sect) opened the traditional festival of Nham Duong Pagoda and commemorated the 319th anniversary of the day the National Master Dao Nam Thong Giac Thuy Nguyet entered nirvana (1704-2023).

The first patriarch of the Cao Dong sect, Thuy Nguyet, was born in 1637, from Son Nam, Thai Binh today. After many years of studying Buddhism, he continued to travel to China. Here, he was given the Dharma name Thong Giac Dao Nam Thien Su and was allowed to return to An Nam to spread the Dharma. In 1667, Zen Master Thuy Nguyet returned to Vietnam and traveled to many places such as Con Son, Quynh Lam, and Yen Tu pagodas to preach and save sentient beings. Later, the Zen Master became the abbot of Nham Duong pagoda. In 1704, Zen Master Thuy Nguyet passed away. He was appointed by King Le as Dai Thanh Dong Son Tue Nhan Tu Giac Quoc Su. His death date later became the origin of Nham Duong Pagoda Festival, which takes place annually from the 5th to the 7th of the 3rd lunar month.
The temple built an "archaeological museum" with many artifacts from 30,000 to 50,000 years ago.

This year's festival lasts from April 24-26 with many rituals such as water procession, incense offering, praying for national peace and prosperity, Mong Son offering food. The festival includes chess, folk games and cultural exchange... Many local people and tourists from all over the world come to attend the festival.

In recent years, the number of visitors to the temple to visit, worship and learn about cultural, historical and archaeological values has increased.
Nham Duong ancient pagoda was built during the Tran Dynasty (1225-1400). This place has majestic mountain scenery, rugged cliffs and dozens of caves that fascinate visitors such as Thanh Hoa cave, Tinh Niem cave, Chieng cave, Trong cave, Toi cave... Here, fossilized remains of prehistoric people and many archaeological relics dating back 30,000-50,000 years have been discovered. In addition, many human bones stuck to the cave walls covered with stalactites belonging to the prehistoric period tens of thousands of years ago were also discovered. The pagoda is also a historical revolutionary relic associated with the two resistance wars against the French and the Americans of our army and people.
