Currently, at Nham Duong pagoda, Duy Tan ward (Kinh Mon), wild animals are no longer kept in captivity.

The monkey cage area at Nham Duong pagoda has been dismantled.

From July to December 2023, Kinh Mon Forest Protection Department (Hai Duong Forest Protection Department) coordinated with Animals Asia to relocate 32 rare monkeys at Nham Duong Pagoda to Vu Quang National Park (Ha Tinh) and Hoang Lien National Park (Lao Cai), ending the captivity of wild animals at Nham Duong Pagoda.

After the animals were released, local authorities removed the cages and asked the temple to stop accepting wild animals sent by people.

The reason is that the pagoda does not have enough legal basis and conditions to care for wild animals. People need to comply with the provisions of the law on animal management and protection. Do not transport, buy, sell, donate, or arbitrarily keep animals at home or in places that do not meet the conditions prescribed by law.

When handing over wild animals, people need to contact Kinh Mon Town Forest Protection Department or relevant authorities, do not donate at the temple.
