After many years of raising the monkeys, Nham Duong Pagoda encountered difficulties in funding, human resources and expertise needed to ensure the monkeys' health.
Kinh Mon Forest Protection Department in conjunction with Nham Duong Pagoda handed over 25 monkeys to Vu Quang National Park (Ha Tinh).
On July 3, Kinh Mon Forest Protection Department and Hai Duong Forest Protection Department organized the handover of 25 rare monkeys that were once raised at Nham Duong Pagoda (belonging to the special national relic An Phu - Kinh Chu - Nham Duong) to Vu Quang National Park (Ha Tinh) with the aim of restoring their habits and releasing them back into the wild.

In recent years, the nun Thich Dieu Mo, abbot of Nham Duong Pagoda, has received many monkeys from restaurants or donated by local people. However, after many years, the pagoda is facing difficulties in terms of funding, human resources and expertise needed to ensure the monkeys are kept healthy.

To protect and develop the monkey herd, Kinh Mon Forest Protection Department and Animals Asia coordinated with Nham Duong Pagoda to relocate 25 monkeys of 4 species: pig-tailed macaque, red-faced macaque, golden macaque and cynomolgus to Vu Quang National Park. Experts and veterinarians from Animals Asia will put the monkeys in separate isolation cages, treat their illnesses and continue to monitor and support them until the monkeys are able to integrate into the natural environment. The relocation of the monkey herd is divided into 2 phases. Phase 1 relocates 14 monkeys and phase 2 relocates 11 monkeys.
