Audi A6 e-tron - luxury electric sedan priced from 81,900 USD

German luxury car brand Audi introduced the new generation A6 e-tron, marking a significant step forward in the company's electric car line. The 2025 A6 e-tron is available in Sportback and Avant variants. Unlike the previous generation, the new generation A6 is fully electric.

Audi said that after launching the A6 e-tron, the German luxury carmaker will improve its product line. The current internal combustion engine A6 model is planned to be upgraded and renamed A7, in line with the company's new strategy of assigning even numbers to electric models.

The new A6 e-tron features split headlights, a more prominent black grille surround, traditional door handles and wide taillights. The A6 e-tron's headlights feature matrix LED technology and the taillights are OLEDs that offer eight display modes.

The A6 e-tron is also the most aerodynamic Audi ever produced and the most aerodynamic car offered by the Volkswagen Group. The Sportback variant has a drag coefficient of 0.21 Cd, which beats its direct rival the BMW i5 but is still a bit behind the Mercedes EQS's 0.20 Cd. Meanwhile, the A6 Avant e-tron claims to be the most aerodynamic estate car in its segment with a drag coefficient of 0.24 Cd.

Audi designed the A6 e-tron's center console to be larger, featuring three screens, including an 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster, a 14.5-inch entertainment screen, and a 10.9-inch touchscreen for the passenger seat. Adding to the tech age are two screens that act as digital mirrors. In addition, the A6 e-tron is equipped with ADAS driving assistance technology with many features.

The A6 e-tron features a panoramic glass sunroof with one-touch privacy glass, 4-zone automatic climate control with fragrance diffuser and ionizer. 20-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system.

The new A6 e-tron electric car is based on the PPE platform, the same as the Q6 e-tron and Porsche Macan EV. It will be available with three powertrain options, with more RWD and AWD options depending on the market.

The base A6 e-tron Performance is available with a single 362-horsepower electric motor and an AWD version with two 422-horsepower electric motors.

The German automaker also revealed the high-performance S6 e-tron model that is about to be launched globally. The rear-biased AWD system produces 496 horsepower, increasing to 543 horsepower when launch control is activated. Acceleration from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, maximum speed 240 km/h.

Both the A6 e-tron and S6 e-tron feature a 100 kWh floor-mounted battery pack that supports 270 kW DC fast charging. The A6 e-tron has a range of 720-750 km and the S6 e-tron has a range of 640-670 km. The German luxury carmaker has revealed that an 83 kWh battery pack option will be available in the near future.

Chassis setup, the optional adaptive air suspension offers four levels of ride height. When efficiency mode is activated from the Audi Drive Select menu, the car's ground clearance is automatically lowered by 20 mm at high speeds to improve aerodynamics. The A6 e-tron comes standard with 19-inch wheels, while the S line and S6 e-tron models come with 20-inch or 21-inch wheels.

The Audi A6 e-tron is available to order in Europe from September. Prices in Germany start at $81,900 for the A6 Sportback e-tron Performance and $107,800 for the S6 Sportback e-tron. The Avant body style costs an additional $1,800.

The 2025 A6 e-tron competes with the BMW i5 and Mercedes EQE.
