The second Vietnam International Defense Exhibition will take place next week (December 19-22), and thousands of people from various military forces are still practicing day and night to prepare for the opening ceremony.

On December 9, the female Military Band practiced together with other performing groups for the first time. The script for the opening ceremony with the theme "Vietnam - Peace - Cooperation - Development" was adjusted and supplemented appropriately, including the participation of the female Military Band appearing right after the performance of the Special Forces.

Many people have noticed that these are the female soldiers who participated in the parade to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory. The girls carry musical instruments in their hands, walk in unison to the beat of drums, and make resounding, heroic trumpet sounds, leaving a deep impression on the people and international friends.

However, unlike the parade in May 2024 with 86 members, this time the bloc had 60 members.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dinh Chien, Military Ceremonial Group, General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, said that within a certain period of time, female soldiers from 18 units throughout the army were mobilized to gather in the Women's Military Band.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dinh Chien emphasized that, implementing the direction of the Ministry of National Defense's leaders, although the group was added later, it overcame difficulties and challenges in terms of time. All members were determined to complete the assigned tasks well, because this was a source of pride and great honor.

Fortunately for all the female members, the exercises from the parade 5 months ago were still remembered by them, so the formation and performance practice were quick and effective. "With the available experience, in just over a week, the members have mastered the basic movements, especially when performing across the stage," affirmed Lieutenant Colonel Phan Dinh Chien.

The first time the female military band appeared at the exhibition, it not only brought the sound of drums and trumpets to the entire army but also demonstrated the strength and beauty of female soldiers in particular and Vietnamese women in general.

Major Luyen Thuy Linh shared that this was the second time she was chosen as the leader of the female Military Band. "When we were mobilized, we were quite surprised, but with the spirit of soldiers, we are always ready to accept the assigned tasks. A few months of not practicing will cause confusion, but with the guidance of the officers of the Ceremonial Group, we quickly stabilized the formation, meeting the requirements of the opening ceremony script," Major Luyen Thuy Linh shared.

The members of the block are between 20 and 34 years old. Females must be 1.6m to 1.7m tall; have a balanced body and face; have clean political qualities and especially need to have musical talent. In the block, members from military art and talent schools who have a background in music will take on the position of block leader, standing at the front of the line.

The musical instruments performed by the female military band include: drums, trumpets, horns, tubas, saxophones, baritones, and helicon horns... With these very large instruments weighing 14-18kg, female soldiers must be selected whose body shape, weight, and height are superior to other members of the band.
