If you're waiting for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, here are five of the biggest changes rumored to be coming to Apple's flagship smartphone.

iPhone 16 Pro Max will have many breakthrough upgrades

According to leaks, Apple will add a brand new high-end model to the iPhone 17 series in 2025. Therefore, this year could be the time for the Cupertino giant to launch its most groundbreaking “Pro Max” version yet – an iPhone 16 version that surpasses the others in both size and performance.

Larger size

According to multiple sources, the iPhone 16 Pro Max will increase in size, potentially becoming Apple's largest iPhone ever. The device will be taller and wider than the iPhone 15 Pro Max launched last year.

While the thickness will remain the same, the weight of the iPhone 16 Pro Max will increase slightly compared to the 15 Pro Max due to its larger size.

If this information is accurate, this will be the first increase in iPhone size since the iPhone 12 series. But this will not necessarily satisfy everyone, especially users who prefer a more compact iPhone.

Larger screen and ultra-thin bezels

Larger devices typically come with larger screens. The iPhone 16 Pro Max is said to have a 6.9-inch display, compared to 6.7 inches on last year's iPhone 15 Pro Max. But Apple isn't just making the screen bigger to provide a better viewing experience.

For this year's iPhone 16 Pro models, Apple is said to be using Border Reduction Structure (BRS) technology, which allows for a more compact and efficient layout of the circuit board under the screen, resulting in even thinner bezels.

Last year, Apple narrowed the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro models using LIPO (low pressure molding) technology to bring the bezel size down to 1.5mm (compared to about 2.2mm on the iPhone 14 models).

Bigger camera

The iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to have a more advanced main camera, with a 12% larger size, equipped with a custom 48MP Sony IMX903 sensor with a stacked design for better performance.

This is accompanied by a 14-bit Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC) for high-quality image data conversion and digital gain control (DCG) technology for better dynamic range and reduced noise.

Additionally, the iPhone 16 Pro Max is also rumored to feature a 48MP Ultra Wide camera, an upgrade from the 12MP lens on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Longer battery life

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo ofTF Securities, Apple will use a higher energy density battery for the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which should result in longer battery life, even if the battery size remains the same as on the iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Initial leaks suggest that both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models will use stacked battery technology, which will offer higher capacity and longer lifespan.

Meanwhile, according to another source, this year's ‌iPhone 16 Pro‌ Max will have an even greater battery life of 30 hours. For comparison, the battery life of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is 29 hours.

Larger storage capacity

According to a source from Korea, Apple's upcoming iPhone 16 Pro models will have a maximum storage capacity of 2TB, on par with the iPad Pro.

The reason is that Apple is rumored to be switching to higher density Quad-Level Cell (QLC NAND) flash memory for the large storage versions.

Using QLC NAND could allow Apple to pack more memory into a smaller space and at a lower cost than the TLC NAND memory that current iPhones use.

The iPhone 16 series is expected to be launched by Apple next September. Notably, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max versions will have strong camera upgrades, support for Wi-Fi 7 and 5G Advance connectivity, and a graphene cooling system. The two high-end iPhones are said to use the A18 Pro processor. Meanwhile, the two standard versions will use the A18 chip with some cuts.

According toMacRumors, The new iPhone will be powered by generative AI, allowing users to interact with chatbots or create text-based images right on the phone.
