Participating for the second time, the Vietnamese team surpassed more than 470 contestants (160 teams from 49 countries) to win third prize in the Network Track - Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024.
The final round of the ICT Competition 2023 - 2024 recently held in Shenzhen (China) recorded a larger number of participating students than in previous years. The Vietnamese team, consisting of 2 students: Dang Phuong Khoi Nguyen (student of FPT University Da Nang) and Nguyen Dac Phuc (student of the University of Economics and Technology of Industry) passed the national round and the Asia - Pacific regional round to continue to demonstrate their talent and courage, excellently winning third prize in the Network Track at the global final round.
Mr. Vu Kiem Van, Vice President and General Secretary of the Vietnam Digital Communications Association (VDCA) highly appreciated the values that the contest brought to Vietnamese students.
He said that improving students' technological skills and qualifications will contribute to the development of high-quality human resources in the ICT industry for Vietnam. Therefore, the Huawei ICT Competition is a useful academic playground for ICT students.
We hope that Huawei will continue to maintain and improve the quality of the competition, providing high-quality training programs and learning materials, not only for the contestants within the framework of the competition but also in long-term cooperation programs in the future.
Winning third place overall, Dang Phuong Khoi Nguyen and Nguyen Dac Phuc both said that the competition was a valuable opportunity to exchange and interact with students around the world. At the same time, this is also a good platform for students to improve their teamwork skills and together create innovative, knowledge-based technology products.
In addition to the goal of improving knowledge, the two students also actively took advantage of the contest to promote the image of the country, people, youth and proud intelligence of Vietnam to international friends.
The 8th Huawei ICT Competition 2023-2024 recorded a record number of more than 170,000 students from over 2,000 universities and colleges, from 80 countries and regions participating.
Since its launch in 2015, the Huawei ICT Competition has become an annual competition that students around the world look forward to.
“To ensure everyone can experience the benefits of digitalization, Huawei believes it is important to ensure that digital technology is accessible to everyone,” said Zhou Hong, President of Huawei’s Institute of Strategic Research, at the awards ceremony.
Mr. Stefania Giannini, Assistant Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for Education, highly appreciated Huawei's series of contributions. “UNESCO has been working to uphold the fundamental rights of education for all learners and teachers using digital technology and AI, and to promote an inclusive, equitable, open, and secure digital environment. And Huawei has been one of UNESCO’s long-standing and important supporters,” he said.
Mr. Peng Honghua, President of Huawei ICT Strategy and Business Development, also shared at the event that ICT is the foundation for an intelligent world. The competition provides students with a global learning platform to exchange ideas and knowledge, thereby enhancing the capabilities of young ICT talents, contributing to building the intelligent world of the future.
As part of this year's competition, Huawei also held an ICT liberal education transformation summit to create an academic space for global scholars and education administrators.
At the Summit, for the first time, Huawei honored 24 of the most outstanding global instructors of Huawei ICT Academy to thank them for their important contributions to the development of a sustainable talent ecosystem.
