In 2014, Trang An Scenic Landscape Complex (Ninh Binh) was recognized by UNESCO as a World Cultural and Natural Heritage. This is one of 31 mixed heritages in the world, the 11th mixed heritage in the Asia-Pacific region and the first mixed heritage of Vietnam and Southeast Asia.

Ninh Binh province aims to make Trang An one of the largest ecological, cultural and spiritual tourism centers in the North and a "green dot" on the world tourism map.
