Handling more than 40,000 "yeast ghosts" in a peak month

According to information from the Traffic Police Department (C08-Ministry of Public Security), from November 15 to December 14, the national traffic police force detected and handled 266,002 cases of traffic safety violations, fined nearly 500 billion VND; revoked driving licenses, certificates, and professional certificates of more than 46,660 cases; temporarily detained nearly 3,480 cars, more than 66,700 motorbikes, and 8 water vehicles. Compared to the same period in the previous year, the number of fines increased by more than 16,800 cases, and the fine increased by nearly 50 billion VND.

During the first month of the peak period of ensuring traffic order and safety during Tet and the 2023 spring festival, traffic police nationwide detected and handled more than 40,000 cases of alcohol concentration violations.

The authorities also handled more than 10,400 cases of overloading, oversizing, and extending the container; an increase of 1,279 cases compared to the same period last year. Nearly 43,000 cases of speeding were handled; an increase of more than 6,500 cases compared to the same period last year. 220 cases of drivers on the road with drugs in their system were handled.

The Traffic Police force directly and in coordination with other functional forces detected 159 criminal, economic and drug-related crimes, arresting 176 subjects; 111 cases, 49 subjects of smuggling and commercial fraud; 11 cases, 8 subjects of illegal transportation and storage of weapons and explosives; 30 cases, 35 subjects of illegal transportation of firecrackers; 22 cases, 24 subjects of illegal sand and mineral exploitation and transportation; 4 cases, 9 subjects of illegal entry.
