Hai Duong Newspaper has just gone through 10,000 issues of news 2 days ago and 1,200 issues of weekend 2 months ago, not to mention 3,780 issues of Hai Hung Newspaper during the period when Hai Duong and Hung Yen were in the same province. Those are the 2 existing printed newspapers. Printed newspapers were the origin of journalism and Hai Duong Newspaper initially only had printed newspapers. Printed newspapers are the past. Printed newspapers still exist. Printed newspapers will still exist in the near future and the distant future seems difficult to predict. Some people believe that printed newspapers will still exist in the distant future as when there was radio, television, the internet and the digital age still had printed newspapers. Many people do not think so. The future is increasingly difficult to predict for the journalism, information and communication industry. But the near future of journalism will be digitalization. And, Hai Duong Newspaper will digitize all printed newspaper issues in the past 62 years, turning this resource into a giant data warehouse serving Hai Duong homeland.

Today, December 1, 2023, Hai Duong Newspaper celebrates the 62nd anniversary of its first issue (December 1, 1961). Hai Duong is one of the first localities in the country to have a Party newspaper after the Central Committee directed to upgrade news papers into local Party newspapers. This is a pioneering thought of the Provincial Party Committee and bears the mark of the leader - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Chuong - who named the new Hai Duong Newspaper - who considered the newspaper a force to direct the work.

In the 1960s, Hai Duong Newspaper was only published every 5 days, then increased to 2 issues/week, with primitive printing technology, bad paper, and small size. Today, Hai Duong Newspaper publishes news articles 5 times/week, has a weekend newspaper, an electronic newspaper in Vietnamese and English, and has social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo, YouTube, and TikTok. During the golden age of printed newspapers, Hai Duong Newspaper also published daily printed newspapers and monthly special editions.

In the past, although the newspaper was small, in the difficult times when bombs and bullets were falling, it was a great achievement compared to other localities. Today, the newspaper has become much larger, but compared to the current situation, it still has to grow. Reviewing the past to see the contributions of those who built the foundation and generations who cultivated it. Talking about today to see what has been done and the capital to continuously strive for development.

Hai Duong Newspaper still holds a place in the hearts of readers, is still a well-groomed newspaper, with quality at the top of Party newspapers in the North. The printed newspaper still has highlights, special commemorative publications. Hai Duong e-newspaper always appears in the top 10 local Party newspapers nationwide with the most readers - the number of readers calculated by advanced tools is an indispensable criterion in the digital age to properly evaluate a newspaper. Hai Duong Newspaper's Facebook fanpage is firmly in the leading position in the number of followers among local Party newspaper fanpages in the North with a blue tick and ranks third in the country. Zalo page has a genuine yellow tick and will grow by many times in 2023...

Hai Duong Newspaper has always received the attention of the Provincial Party Committee, People's Council, and Provincial People's Committee. This is also a tradition that has been strongly promoted in recent years. Many issues raised by the newspaper are the basis for provincial leaders to inspect and urge work. Many issues raised by the newspaper have impacted policies and many agencies have adjusted them to suit life. The number of people reading the newspaper and following the newspaper's digital products has continuously increased, demonstrating the attachment of cadres, party members, and people to the newspaper, and the newspaper has partly expressed the voice of the people.

On the eve of the traditional day of the provincial Party Committee's newspaper, the province has paid attention to investing in facilities and financial mechanisms by approving economic and technical standards as a basis for ordering, bringing the newspaper to healthy development. Major projects related to the development of the newspaper are being actively coordinated by Hai Duong Newspaper.

On the occasion of the traditional day, looking back at the past years, we see more clearly the responsibility of those working at Hai Duong Newspaper today to constantly strive and overcome limitations to serve readers. The newspaper will have to transform digitally more strongly to create more products suitable to the tastes of users and readers, appearing promptly on existing user platforms; building a multimedia, multi-platform press agency, making the newspaper both serve well the political tasks of the Provincial Party Committee, be a bridge, and serve well the information needs, speak up and improve the cultural and spiritual life of the people.
